Test Tooling Advisory

Make your test tools work harder

When test tools are fragmented or poorly matched to your needs, delivery slows and maintenance grows. We can help you assess what’s working, what’s not and where to improve, so your tooling supports faster testing, better coverage and more efficient delivery.

Helping organisations improve quality, resilience and delivery confidence across complex digital estates.

Turn tooling decisions into quality outcomes

Resillion’s Test Tooling Advisory reviews your current toolchain, coverage, integrations, governance, automation fit and reporting model. This helps you understand what to keep, improve, replace or retire, so your tooling supports faster feedback, clearer risk visibility and better release decisions.

What makes our approach different is that it is advisory-led, tool-agnostic and grounded in hands-on quality engineering delivery across complex, regulated and fast-moving environments.

With Total Quality guiding our work, our teams build quality in early, ensuring the selected tools fit your development context, delivery model and risk profile rather than forcing you into a one-size-fits-all stack.

CASE STUDY

From legacy testing tools to scalable smart meter assurance

Challenge

A leading UK energy supplier relied on a largely manual smart meter testing tool that had become a delivery bottleneck. With one test set running at a time, month-long test cycles, growing hardware and firmware combinations, and heavy reliance on a small group of legacy experts, the organisation needed a more scalable way to keep pace with compliance and interoperability demands.

Approach

Resillion designed and delivered an automated smart meter testing platform tailored to the client’s environment. The platform enabled testers to create, edit and run large-scale tests on real devices in a controlled lab setup, with support for electricity meters, gas meters, comms hubs, in-home displays and prepayment meter interfaces. This gave the client a future-fit tooling foundation aligned to its delivery context.

Result

With around 50% of testing already automated, the client can now run continuous and parallel test cycles with far less manual effort. This has helped cut testing time, reduce dependency on legacy knowledge, improve resilience and support compliant, interoperable smart meter rollouts at scale.

Still hesitating? See what’s at stake

If you’re not convinced by Resillion’s Test Tooling Advisory, consider what you’ll be up against without it:

brain icon

Tool sprawl that leaves teams paying for platforms they barely use.

brain icon

Slow feedback cycles that allow defects to surface too late.

brain icon

Inconsistent practices that make quality harder to govern across teams.

brain icon

Poor tool fit that forces your delivery model to work around limitations.

brain icon

Weak reporting that leaves release decisions based on incomplete evidence.

brain icon

Rising maintenance effort that drains time from higher-value testing.
