Successful demonstrations: The project proved that DSR technologies can help balance the grid and engage consumers.
Resillion is proud to announce the successful completion of the Interoperable Demand Side Response (IDSR) Stream 4 Lot 2 demonstrations, marking a major step forward in the UK’s journey towards smarter, more flexible energy systems.
Led by Resillion, in partnership with PNDC, ScottishPower, and QualityLogic, the IDSR Stream project was part of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s Flexibility Innovation Programme. The aim of this particular stream was to test how well different Energy Smart Appliances (ESAs) and Demand Side Response Service Providers (DSRSPs) could work together in real-world conditions. The project ran from January 2023 to March 2025 and focused on making the UK’s electricity grid more modern, reliable and ready for the future.
Successful demonstrations: The project proved that DSR technologies can help balance the grid and engage consumers.
Interoperability progress: We learnt valuable lessons about how to make the different systems work together, informing future standards.
Consumer experience: The team identified ways to make smart energy technologies easier for people to use.
Collaboration: The project showcased the benefits of working across sectors to solve complex energy challenges.
As the UK moves towards Net Zero, flexible energy systems are essential. The work led by Resillion is helping to set the standards and best practices for the future of energy, making sure new technologies are robust, secure, and user-friendly.
The final report, which includes lessons learned and final recommendations is now published and available for download:
