Matter Open Day and Developer Conference in China: A showcase of innovation, insight and community
This year’s Matter Open Day and Developer Conference in China was nothing short of energising. With a growing audience, engaging demos and a compelling talk on interoperability, the event offered a powerful platform to demonstrate leadership in the smart home and IoT ecosystem.
Day One: A bigger, bolder Matter Day
The event was significantly larger than last year, with double the number of booths and attendees. The scale reflected the growing momentum behind Matter and the increasing interest in the CN market. It was a great opportunity to connect with the community, showcase capabilities and reinforce our role as a trusted partner in the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) space.
Engaging demos and real conversations
Day one was all about interaction and our booth attracted many visitors. The standout attraction? A live demo showcasing our approach to interoperability automation testing services.
The demo, focused on interoperability testing across various eco systems, sparked curiosity and conversation. Visitors also curious about how we could help them pass certification tests efficiently and improve their product experience. The process helped demystify the technical aspects and allowed the team to show how knowledgeable and approachable they are.
To make the experience more tangible, the team used a Rubik’s Cube as a conversation starter – an inventive way to explain the complexity of testing in a way that resonated with attendees. It was a simple but effective tool that helped bridge the gap between abstract services and real-world understanding, and shows a glamps of the idea of Total Quality.
Day Tow: Keynote on interoperability as a strategic advantage
On day two, in the Matter Developer Conference, Fan Zhang, Resillion’s Testing Operations Director, gave a keynote speech about the importance of interoperability testing in the Matter environment. While certification is often seen as the final step, Fan challenged that notion, encouraging manufacturers to reframe it as just the beginning.
He outlined how interoperability testing can unlock deeper collaboration with major players like Apple, Google, Amazon Alexa and Samsung (e.g their Work With Logos). By following the right processes, manufacturers can go beyond the Matter logo and achieve seamless integration across various platforms.
Fan’s message was clear: Interoperability isn’t just about compliance, it’s about quality, user experience and long-term success. Despite being delivered near the end of the day, his talk still managed to spark follow-up conversations and even prompted feedback from major players like Samsung, who engaged directly with him after the session.
Strengthening our role in the CSA and Matter China Group
Participation in Matter Open Day and Developer Conference goes beyond demos and talks. As an active member of the CSA and the CSA Members Group in China (CMGC)., we contribute to localisation efforts, participate in developer contests and support the growth of the ecosystem.
This year, the Resillion team played a key role in testing entries for the developer contest, helping to identify and reward innovation. Being part of the CMGC also provides access to some of the biggest names in the industry, including Tuya, Samsung and chipset providers like Telink, and Silicon Labs. It’s a long-term investment in relationships and reputation – one that positions us well in the region’s smart home landscape.
Internal growth and team development
The event also served as a valuable learning experience. For some, it was their first time participating in such an event. Watching colleagues engage with clients, answer technical questions and represent the company with confidence was a moment of growth. It’s not just about external visibility; it’s about building internal capability and confidence.
Looking ahead
With Matter Open Day growing in size and influence, we’re already looking forward to next year’s event. The opportunity to speak directly with CSA board members, share our differentiators and influence the direction of interoperability testing is one we don’t take lightly.
“We’re not just here to test. We’re here to help shape the future of interoperability, Resillion’s role in the Matter community is only just beginning,” says Fan Zhang.
